Fincor 4150 Series Three-Phase AC Starters

Series 4150 controllers provide an economical, efficient means of controlling the acceleration of conventional three-phase AC induction motors. The units feature convenient, simple controls for adjusting the starting torque developed by the motor and its acceleration time to rated speed. Acceleration is smooth and stepless under all load conditions. Series 4150 controllers provide additional application versatility since they also offer motor deceleration. Figure 1 shows standard packaged 4150P controllers.

The controllers incorporate state-of-the-art digital solid-state technology to limit inrush current, provide acceptable starting torque, and establish a desired time period to accelerate the motor and connected load to rated speed. Formerly, this was only practical with electromechanical starters which use multiple contactors to sequentially select ballast resistors, reactors, auto transformer taps, or part winding motors to provide the degree of reduction in starting voltage necessary for cushioned starts. These methods and mechanical devices, such as slip clutches and fluid couplings, are characterized by their requirement for periodic adjustment or maintenance due to component burn-out or wear. UL approval is pending.
