The popular Datasensor S7 fiber-optic amplifier has been enhanced with the introduction of new models with white light emission and 10kHz switching frequency (corresponding to only 50µs response time). These new devices are exceptionally precise, fast and suitable for functioning as Fiber-Optic Contrast Sensors in print registration applications. The sensor alignment, setting and functioning are easily managed through the 4-digit display present on the panel together with the setting and configuration keys. All the following functions and parameters can be configured using the keyboard: delay timing at output deactivation selectable from 0, 5, 10, 20 or 40ms; normal (500us/1kHz) or fast (50us/10kHz) response time; dark or light operating mode; display orientation for reading from right or left sides; and display with either continuous powering or power-save function.

When used as a print registration sensor, the new S7 model DataSensor Fiber Sensors with white light emission perform at their best when combined with coaxial proximity Fiber-Optics such as the OF-36-ST-20 model and the extra-flexible OF-36-XF-20 model. When the light spot needs conditioning, the OF-44-ST-20 model and the extra-flexible OF-44-XF-20, can be fitted with the AF-3 (19mm distance and 4mm resolution) and AF-4 (7mm distance and 0.4mm resolution) focusing lenses.

The high resolution 12 bit amplifier has a response time of 50 µs for a switching frequency of 10 Khz; 4096 resolution steps make the S7 series DataSensor Fiber Sensor perfect for ultra high precision detection of small objects and low colour contrasts. Installing and setting the S7 is easy and rapid, thanks to the patent-covered CLEARLOCK fibre fixing and EASYtouch adjustment system that offers remote setting, keylock and activation of the output OFF delay function. Furthermore new versions of the S7 series DataSensor Fiber Sensors are available with multiturn mechanical trimmer threshold adjustment for cost-oriented applications.

The photoelectric sensors of the S3 series are characterised by particularly compact dimensions still offering excellent performances and a wide variety of models. The wide range of optic functions include diffuse proximity with distance adjustable up to 10 cm or 50 cm, or 12 mm fixed focus proximity. The retroreflex versions of DataSensor S3 Series Amplifiers reach 3 m and are also available in the polarised version suitable for detecting shiny objects, or low hysteresis models to detect transparent objects. The 5 m through beam models complete the series, together with versions for the different fibre-optics available as accessories. All models offer trimmer sensitivity adjustment and LED stability indicator; the axial and lateral optics guarantee the same performances. Maximum installation versatility and use are obtained thanks to the configurable output and miniature housing.

DataSensor TEN series has been developed to guarantee the best performances with the extremely various plastic fiber-optic accessories. Different models are available: models with 1.5 kHz switching frequency for the longer operating distances, or 5 kHz models with only 100 µs response time and double red/green selectable emission, that can be also used as contrast sensors to detect coloured marks. The setting is obtained by means of a SET push-button and thanks to a tri-colour LED that guides the operations, signalling the correct optic fibre alignment. Moreover a 2 bit anti-interference system that, within the response time, uses another confirmation pulse before switching the output and a special high sensitivity amplification circuit to also detect transparent objects are present. The exclusive patent-covered CLEARLOCK solution allows the visible verification of the correct fibre-optic insertion, as well as the identification of the light sources. Reduction of installation costs, space and time are only a few of the advantages offered by TED series, that presents two DataSensor fiber-optic amplifiers inside a single housing with only a 12 mm depth, suitable for both fixing bracket or DIN rail mounting.

TED Series DataSensor Fiber Sensors have four input holes for the emission and receiver terminals of the two independent fibre-optics, that can be positioned either separately at long distances or close to each other without any interference. The EASYtouch setting push-buttons, the indication LEDs and the NPN or PNP outputs are all double and independent. The power supply is in common for both channels, while the outputs are placed on different poles that can be connected together in parallel, obtaining an 'OR' function. This means that the common output is activated even if only one of the two fibre-optics has detected the object. The TED sensors are available with cable or M8 connection.

The DataSensor S50 series distance sensors offer all optical functions within a M18 housing. With the universal sensing functions of proximity, polarised retroreflex and through beam, which are also available with class 1 laser emission, as well as the more advanced functions of background suppression, background/foreground suppression, analogue displacement, contrast and luminescence, Infra S50 really is one housing for all applications. The S50 DataSensor Distance Sensor setting is carried out-by either by potentiometer, which is sealed to IP67, or using the patented EASYtouch push-button teach system, which gives rapid and precise automatic setting of the switching points. The Infra S50 series is available both in flat plastic format ideal for M18 nut or screw mounting through the sensor body, as well as a cylindrical metal housing.

Axial or radial optics are available in both housings with integral cable or M12 connection conforming to EN 60947-5-2, the European wiring standard. DataSensor S5 series offers a range of plastic tubular M18 photoelectric sensors. The most varied optic functions can be chosen amongst the fixed focus or diffuse proximity models with short, medium or long operating distances reaching 60 cm; the 4 m retroreflex, 3 m polarised retroreflex and 1 m for detection of transparent materials; the 12 m through beam and models with fibre-optic connection. Different versions with either axial or radial optics are available. DataSensor S5 Series Fiber-Optic Sensor offers connector or cable connection, 3 wire Vac versions or 4 wire Vdc versions with complete configuration of the NPN/PNP output and dark/light mode. A red LED indicating the output status is visible on the bottom side of the sensor. The versions with trimmer adjustment present also a green LED signalling the switching stability according to the received signal's intensity. The rugged ABS housing always guarantees IP67 protection.
