The modular concept of VLT AutomationDrive makes it highly adaptable also to future features and options. Modularity offers the benefit of buying on a need-to-have basis without losing future possibilities. The Local Control Panel (LCP) can be plugged in directly or connected through a cable for remote commissioning. The LCP can be disconnected during operation and replaced with a blind cover. Settings are easily transferred via the LCP from one drive to another or from a PC to a drive with the VLT Set-up Software MCT 10.

690V VLT Automation Drive

Reduce system costs and achieve remarkable space saving benefits with high performance frequency converters that cover the complete power range from 1.1 kW - 1.4 MW. With the addition of 690V version of the VLT AutomationDrive, Danfoss can offer a complete range of compact, reliable and efficient 690 V drives for demanding productions with own power supply. The new series features drives that are among the smallest on the market up to 75kW.

Built on the powerful and reliable VLT platform, the drives offers system designers, builders and end users the efficiency enhancing benefits offered by Danfoss' single drive concept for industrial applications. Suitable for use on normal TN and IT (isolated) grids, the IP 20 protected drives are especially useful in installations within chemical, mining, water/wastewater and marine applications.

Enclosed VLT Automation Drive

IP 66/Type 4X enclosed VLT frequency converters cover the range from 0.25 to 90 kW, allowing for mounting near the motor in harsh environments. VLT AutomationDrive, VLT HVAC Drive and VLT AQUA Drive come in IP66/Type 4X versions covering 0.25 to 90 kW (normal overload). IP 66/Type 4X drives are suitable for installation in wash-down areas in food & beverage plants, as well as outdoor in wastewater plants or on rooftop airhandling units.

The drives are built to withstand harsh cleaning agents and corrosive air. IP 66/Type 4X drives can be installed directly at the processing equipment without the need for protective cover. All cast aluminium parts are powder coated with a strong epoxy coating. The corrosion resistance has been successfully tested with commonly used cleaning detergents. Protection against corrosive gasses complies with to IEC 60721-3-3 level 3C3.

For open mounting - like on a frame - a stainless steel back plate is available to guide the air from the fan through the rear heatsink. A watertight USB plug is available for mounting in a gland hole in the bottom of the drive. With this plug it is possible to commission the drive via the VLT Set-up Software MCT 10 without opening the drive. The drive must be installed under a suitable cover to protect from direct exposure to sun, snow and ice.

The installation volume and/or the mounting surface are reduced by up to 60% compared with previous series. The service sections nevertheless fulfil the highest requirements even for applications with high overload, long motor cables and ambient temperatures up to 50° C (55° C with derating).

Optimised efficiency and intelligent cooling technology make the compact and service-friendly design possible. Even equipment such as EMC filters, harmonics suppression and brake modules are integrated in the enclosure. The IP 20 series is designed for easy accessibility and time-saving installation. Mechanical fastening points are easy to access from the front even with automatic tools. All terminals are sufficiently dimensioned and clearly marked.

One need only loosen a few screws to get to the terminals. Accessories for bonding of screened cables are included. The compact enclosures are easier to install. This is important especially within existing installations with poor accessibility. The IP 20 enclosed series completes the enclosure program of the modular VLT series with IP 21, IP 55 and IP 66 enclosures. They all completely support the modular platform of the VLT series. An extensive range of options and accessories is available, optimising the drive for the respective application.
