Incremental Encoders, and, in particular, incremental optical encoders, are the most popular choice of
sensors in applications where mechanical motion must be processed into digital information. Compared with alternate
technologies (such as resolvers, tachometers, etc.), optical encoders represent the best combination of accuracy,
resolution, reliability, ruggedness, ease of use, value and variety of solutions in the industry. For these reasons,
optical encoders are the overwhelming choice where speed, rate, velocity, distance, position, or direction must be
accurately and economically measured. Resolutions up to 30,000 counts per revolution (CPR) and operating temperatures up to
120° C (248° F) are just some of features.
Iincremental encoders are into three model groups, OEM Models, Shaft Models, and Bore Models. Each model
group has unique physical styles which include many mounting options, case styles, and useful features.

As with all of EPC's encoders, these absolute encoders represent the best overall value available. Their
simplified design make them ideal, cost-effective solutions to many problems faced in motion control and in industrial
automation. They are particularly suited for applications where a device is inactive for long periods of time or moves at a
slow rate, such as flood gate control, telescopes, cranes, valves, etc., and in machine tooling, printing, paper making and
many other industries.
EPC offers single turn devices with resolutions ranging from 8 bit (256 counts per rev) to 12 bit (4096
counts per rev). You can choose from a variety of formats, including binary or gray code, and from a variety of output
types. Also available are innovative hollow bore models that extend the application areas suitable for absolutes.
Backlash B-Gone! At last, a linear encoder solution with no back-lash or slippage. The NEW TR2 Tru-Trac
Accu-Coder Linear Encoder is a versatile solution for tracking velocity, position, or distance in almost any application,
featuring an integrated encoder with a rack and pinion gear assembly. Using the Rack and Pinion gear system, encoder readings
can be obtained with repeatable positioning, providing excellent accuracy.
Racks can be ordered in varying lengths, and with the accessory spacer block, multiple lengths of rack can be
joined for easy installation. Due to the spring loaded torsion arm, which provides simple to adjust torsion load, the TR2 Accu
Coder Linear Encoder has all the flexibility and maneuverability of the original TR1 Tru-Trac. It has the ability to be installed
in a horizontal, vertical, or upside down position.
The Model 802S Accu-Coder is a heavy duty, industry standard Size 20 (2.0" diameter) encoder specifically
designed for harsh factory and plant floor environments. The Model 802S Accu-Coder Stainless Encoder is available with a variety
of flange and servo mounting styles, making it easy to use in a broad range of applications. Its heavy duty, double shielded ball
bearings are rated at 80 pounds maximum axial and radial shaft load, ensuring long operating life. This ultra-rugged, yet compact
encoder is housed in a Type 316 stainless steel enclosure, making it ideal for applications where contamination or exposure to
caustic chemicals is a concern. But don't let its tough exterior fool you, the Model 802S Stainless Steel Encoder provides the
precise, reliable output you've come to expect from Accu-Coder.
Direct Replacement Encoders
Encoder Products Company understands the importance of time when you have a machine down. After many

Encoder Products Company (EPC) offers two types of measuring wheels in both english and metric
circumferences. The first type, Faced Measuring Wheels, has a wide contact surface with a variety of faced coatings, one of
which will be suitable for nearly every specialized application. The second, Rubber Insert Measuring Wheels, uses a replaceable
rubber insert, or "spare tire", that is easier to set up and maintain, and fits most general-purpose requirements.
Encoder Products Company Inc. (EPC), a leading designer and world-wide manufacturer of motion sensing
devices, was founded in 1969, beginning operations with a small line of custom encoders (the original Cube series). Today, more
than 30 years later, Accu-Coder manufactures the most complete line of incremental and absolute shaft encoders in the industry,
meeting the diverse needs of a wide range of global customers. Accu-Coder's core philosophy is that each and every customer
deserves quality products, superior customer service, and expert support. Adherence to these principles has enabled EPC to
achieve its goal of maintaining long lasting customer relationships.
Inventors of the original Cube encoder, Accu-Coder has also been responsible for a large number of "firsts" in
the encoder industry, including the first use of Opto-ASIC technology and the first use of flex mounting for hollow shaft
encoders, to mention just two. These innovations have not only been widely imitated, they have often become industry standards.
The Cube Series is just the beginning of Encoder Products Company's full line of high-precision, rugged, reliable encoders
available in all popular formats. The Round Series includes industry standard sizes 15, 20, 25 and 58. The Thru-Bore Series
provides a wide variety of through shaft configurations for a broad range of industrial and motor control applications. The
Absolute Series provides accurate positioning information even in the event of power loss. In addition, Accu-Coder has developed
many ingenious, unique custom encoders for a diverse group of corporate customers.
When selecting an encoder supplier, your top two criteria will most likely be Quality and Reliability. Quality
of both products and services has been a top priority, and a strong advantage, for Accu-Coder during our entire 30 plus years as
an optical shaft encoder manufacturer. To insure that Quality remains a top priority, Accu-Coder has invested heavily in a
Quality System that has successfully been audited to the requirements of ISO 9001:2000, an internationally recognized standard
for comprehensive Quality Systems. This Quality System incorporates procedures for timely preventive and corrective actions so
that the quality of your encoder will keep improving. One visible measure of Accu-Coder's emphasis on quality is EPC's
best-in-the-industry three-year warranty! Another is that Encoder Products Company's Accu-Coder brand has become known throughout
the industry for quality and reliability.
Accu-Coder Encoders' Corporate Headquarters and Americas Division are located close to beautiful Sandpoint,
Idaho, 63 miles from the Canadian border. A newly built 100,000 sq/ft facility is where we design, enhance, and provide customized
encoders for our global customers. This location is ISO 9001:2000 registered. From this location the Americas Division supports
and manufactures encoders for our customers in North and South America as well as encoder components and some completed units for
other Accu-Coder divisions. EPC's European subsidiary (British Encoder Products Company, BECO) provides the same for European

The ENC41 Series
is the low-end, encoder basic line, which distinguish itself for cost and dimension reduction, without
compromising robustness and overall performance. The typical applications for this encoder can be found in
working and assembling lines, automated packaging machinery, light conveyors. Optical rotary encoders (or
shaft encoders) are made to provide output signals or digital data based on physical mechanical
For Wider Labels,
this series with 60mm mouth depth and short response time is ideal. The new GS 63 sensors, developed
especially for the detection of non-transparent labels, are characterized by further, particularly
user-oriented features. Thus, the considerably reduced response time and the very high repeatability ensure
unmatched reliability. The extremely flat, lower fork in the new slim-line design enables integration
